Platelet Therapy

What does platelet therapy do?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a concentration of a patient's own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints. In this way, PRP injections use each individual patient's own healing system to improve musculoskeletal problems.

How Does PRP Work?

The platelet activation process in PRP preparation allows for the release of proteins in the blood that helps initiate repairs of injured tissue and damaged cartilage, blood vessels, and soft tissue.  While it’s not physically possible for the body to increase platelet production in one concentrated area, a PRP injection to a specific site can feature up to five times as many platelets as typical blood.
